    President's Message

 

It is my honor and privilege to serve as the President of the Bishop Ireton #6189 Ladies Auxiliary. We are a group of dedicated ladies who not only assist the Knights with their charitable efforts, but have our own projects, too. We raise funds and needed items to help the troops overseas, expectant needy mothers, homeless in Richmond, Native Americans out west, and our local special needs citizens. We have fun events like Movie Night and Game Night where we gather to have an evening of fun and fellowship. We have a big fundraising event at least once a year (this year it's a dance and in 2009 it will be a fashion show event).
Our monthly meetings are September through June on the second Sunday of the month. We usually gather at 5:30pm and have a light snack along with the Knights and our meeting begins at 6:30pm (the Knights meet at the same time separately).
Our membership is open to "all wives, mothers, daughters, and widows of the Knights of Columbus and to any Christian woman who wishes to participate" (taken from bylaws) Our dues are $25.00 annually.  We are planning our September 27, 2008 fundraiser dance. The theme is “Summer's Final Splash”. It will have live music by “Splash Band”. Appetizers and drinks will be served. Tickets are $12.00 in advance, $15.00 at door. Please join us to help plan the event.Please join us to help plan the event. We are also going to collaborate with Brother Knight Jack Hazlewood to make Scapulars to give out at hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Father Leo will be at the September Ladies meeting to give a brief explanation of the program. One more exciting program has got a date! Saturday, October 25, 2008, we are having a day retreat at the Sisters of Visitation from 9: 00am to 3: 30 pm. Father Leo is the retreat master. The cost is $10.00 and that includes lunch (from Powhatan Country Store) and a stipend for Convent. Please sign up for this now.
