The Bishop Peter L. Ireton Knights of Columbus Council #6189 Charter contains 63 names and is dated November 9, 1969.  These Brothers joined the Order as Charter Members: John Bruch, Francis Devine, Raymond Louth, Horace Scott and Earl Williams.  Our meetings initially alternated between Sacred Heart and St. Edward’s.  Our Council’s U.S. Flag has flown over the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.  The Commonwealth of Virginia Flag has flown over the Capitol Building in Richmond.  Council members remodeled the Whitehouse, behind Sacred Heart Church, to include a kitchen, water heater, rest rooms, electronic range and refrigerator.  Members of our Council painted the outside of the Sacred Heart Church as well as that of the Rectory.  Our Council newsletter, The Ireton Informer, was born with the December issue.  Council 6189 continues to flourish today.  It continues to seek new members in the order.  Any male practicing Catholic 18 years or older is invited to join our council.  There are many benefits to being a Knight of Columbus.  Go here to learn more. © Council 6189, Knights of Columbusr 2011
